A celebration of sport and Mario
Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games combined the world of Mario and Sonic with the excitement of Olympic sports. Released in 2011, the game featured a wide range of events based on real-life Olympic disciplines, such as track and field, gymnastics, and rowing. Players could control Mario, Sonic, and other fan-favourite characters, competing in these events to earn medals and bragging rights. The limited edition in a moneybox tin made the game even more appealing to collectors.
Olympic competition with a Mario and Sonic twist
The events were infused with the trademark quirks of the Mario and Sonic universes. Players could perform outrageous special moves, like Mario’s Fireball or Sonic’s Spin Dash, adding a fun, competitive element to each sport. The different characters also had their own strengths and weaknesses, making the gameplay strategic, especially in multiplayer. The game’s light-hearted approach to competition ensured it was accessible to players of all ages, making it perfect for family fun.
Fun for all ages with multiplayer modes
The game’s multiplayer modes allowed up to four players to compete in various events, making it a perfect party game. Whether you were challenging friends to a 100m sprint or teaming up for a cooperative event, the game kept everyone engaged with its fast-paced and enjoyable gameplay. The fun mini-games and activities beyond the main Olympic events, like Dream Events, ensured that there was always something fresh and exciting to try.
