Bringing golf to the Famicom

Nintendo’s Golf was one of the first video game adaptations of the sport, offering a simple yet surprisingly deep experience for players in 1984. Featuring an overhead view of the course, wind conditions, and club selection, it aimed to bring a more realistic take on golf than earlier arcade-style interpretations.

A familiar-looking golfer

The game’s protagonist bears a strong resemblance to Mario, though he was not explicitly named as such. This early connection between Mario and sports games would later evolve into full-fledged series like Mario Golf.

Part of the pulse line series

This Pulse Line version, marked by the signature red stripe on its box and cartridge, signifies its place among the earliest Famicom releases. Its simple yet effective gameplay laid the groundwork for future golf titles and remains a nostalgic classic for many players.
