Release: 1989
Product code: FCNS-D-1200
Manufacturer: Nintendo Co., Ltd.
The Dataship 1200 was a combined banking system and Famicom built into one system that used data cards instead of standard Famicom cartridges.
It’s thought that it was made in limited numbers and is relatively scarce to find today in complete condition. It’s one of a few examples where Nintendo experimented with online connectivity, several years before home internet was to become mainstream. Again, another great example of Nintendo’s pioneering innovation.
It includes a modem and a dedicated keypad controller that were purposefully designed for home banking.
