A zany touchscreen experience
Released in 2004 for the Nintendo DS, WarioWare: Touched! took full advantage of the system’s touchscreen and microphone, delivering another batch of lightning-fast microgames with a unique twist. The game followed the classic WarioWare formula—players had only a few seconds to complete bizarre, unpredictable challenges—but now, instead of pressing buttons, they had to tap, slide, spin, and even blow into the microphone to succeed.
Microgames like never before
The game featured over 180 microgames, each designed to showcase the DS’s capabilities. One moment, you might be slicing sushi with a quick flick of the stylus, and the next, you’re tickling a cartoon character to make them laugh. The sheer variety kept things fresh, with Wario and his gang bringing their usual mix of oddball humour and chaotic fun. Mona, Ashley, and the rest of the crew each had their own themed sets of microgames, adding a sense of personality to the madness.
A perfect fit for portable play
With its quickfire gameplay, WarioWare: Touched! was ideal for short bursts of fun, making it one of the DS’s best pick-up-and-play titles. It also served as a fantastic introduction to the DS’s touchscreen features, showing just how much creativity developers could squeeze out of the system. While later entries would expand on the formula, this one remains a fan-favourite for its sheer originality and charm.
