These beautiful folding fans (sensu) are exclusive to the Nintendo Store Kyoto and are crafted by Hakuchikudo, a renowned local artisan founded in 1718. Each fan embodies centuries of Kyoto’s traditional craftsmanship, blending elegance with practicality.

Two distinct designs are available: the “Hakuchiku” (白竹) or white bamboo variety, featuring a timeless pine, bamboo, and plum motif symbolising longevity, resilience, and renewal. The “Karaki” (唐木) or exotic dark wood version showcases a stylish brushstroke pattern, evoking a sense of refined artistry. When closed, both fans reveal a striking red checkered design, adding a subtle touch of Nintendo’s signature colours.
